The current plan is to go Stone Summit this Saturday! It’ll be fun, but I’m really wanting to get back to Sand Rock. I have two 11s and two 12s I’d really like to get on. Perhaps a climbing trip is in order on Memorial Day! The car is currently at a respectable shop so hopefully it can get fixed today or tomorrow.

Great climbing trip!

We got off to a rocky start Friday evening when our car broke down just 20 minutes away from Sandrock. The battery was dead and jumps weren’t working soo we hung out on the dock of a lake for almost an hour until a tow truck picked us up and brought us to Walmart for a new battery. After that, we tried to save a mini dachshund with a death wish that was not giving a fuck just roaming around in the middle of the road. I’m not sure how that dog is still alive…cars were not stopping for it. That junkyard dog with a free spirit is just roaming the plains of Alabama now I suppose. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to learn our friends Eric and Steph were there so we had a fantastic night of hanging out by the fire. We definitely made a hammock triangle…it’s okay to feel envious. Sleeping in that hammock was amazing.

Climbing today was very chill since Holly was with us and is still very new to climbing. We did a random trad 7, Kennel Club 8, Kitty Litter 7 trad, Too pump chump 10, and Standard Route 6 trad. I shouldn’t be surprised that the 6 was her favorite. We slacklined and did yoga poses at a lookout during lunchtime. It was a pretty good day! I tradded Kitty Litter for a second time and felt really confident with my placements. I’d definitely like to start tradding more! I haven’t tradded harder than a 9… I definitely need to go climbing again without any beginners so we can get on some harder stuff! I’d really like to climb more 12s and trad 9s.

On the way back from climbing, we stopped for froyo and then went to a wakeboard comp. Pretty great day!

Camping tonight. Climbing tomorrow!

Getting stoked! I get to use my hammock for the first time. Hopefully it doesn’t rain tonight because the weather claims isolated thunderstorms for a single hour. I claim it’s a lie. I’m bringing my friend Holly who has never climbed outside before so this shall be quite an adventure! Haha. Of course the same night I have plans, Greg invites me to a wolf pack reunion in Atlanta. So much more convenient than driving all the way to Athens. There’s always next time I suppose!
